Casual Friday: 036

It’s casual Friday! Lean back, sip some coffee, and get a look at the some early-on sketches of new products, revisions, or gnarly design problems.

This week’s focus: further progress on the new desk platform.

What’s new? I’ve been hard at work on the new desk platform and, now that the general assembly of the desk is sorted out, I’ve been focused on the cassettes. This week’s addition is the big desk shelf.

The Desk Shelf. This latest cassette is designed to bolt into the desktop holes. It’s wide enough to support most monitor displays and there’s a cutout on the back to accommodate a VESA arm if you’re mounting to the desk, or to guide cabling down the back of the desk.

The big shelf uses the same recycled HDPE and powder coated stainless steel as the core desk, so it’s good for the planet…and magnetic.

What’s next? I’m working on two more main cassettes: a small shelf (about half the width as the above shelf) and bookends for keeping your notebooks in order or a laptop in clamshell mode out of the way.
